Good Morning 05:30
Today is the first day of my life. The sun will shine. The darkness fades for me. Nothing exists except in my own mind. That’s what proves my will is really free. After all I’m only dreaming, and that’s what really matters. I know I can make up my own mind. Time will pass and seasons fade, but from now ‘til ever after I know I can make up my own mind. Let’s look back to younger days of innocence: back before our lives had unfurled. In the end we’ll always have our ignorance to save us from the evils of this world. (If everything is falling under, how can you still promise me?)
2.
You called me and I feel asleep on top of my piano keys. I wish I’d slept more comfortably, for pillows made of ivory don’t quite give me the rest I need. While I have your ears, also give me your confidence that we’ll get out of this what we’ve put in. Pressed shirts and pressures will eventually disappear, and we’ll get out of this in the end.

The Path 03:43
I wish you good fortune for the path ahead I hope you find a safe way home, For the path is covered by the leaves of time and old age Most get lost upon the way Please don’t take the safest sidewalks, For the forest has so much to teach If you take a train to the new world I’d love if you saved a seat for me Keep in mind that We’re children growing in a world of con-men, And we’ve all told lies before Please don’t give in, ‘cause we all deserve a second chance again And we all can get it right Please don’t take the safest sidewalks, For the forest has so much to teach If you take a train to the new world I’d love if you saved a seat for me And all I know is I will try my best, to find my way home
4.
It’s getting late, you should go home now The artistry of this town leaves something more to be desired, But I will be back for you These stairs will never be wide enough for me, For I am lost in everything It came like lightning from a clear blue sky If we never look out of our window, A home will become a cell I’m sure these walls are keeping secrets, But from my view it’s hard to tell These stairs will never be wide enough for me, For I am lost in everything It came like lightning from a clear blue sky These stairs will never be wide enough for me, For I am lost in everything It came like lightning from a clear blue sky
5.
No I don’t understand you But sure, I’ll play along ‘cause we’re all just musicians Who can’t seem to write a good song As you search through your sunken heart You look to fill your vacancies You’ll soon find you’re a leaf in the wind Who’s drifting o’er the vacant seas And a blind man can rest While the healthy man’s crossed We search through life’s beauty We find ourselves lost My dearest, we’re best never seeing at all My dearest, we’re best never seeing at all Just close your eyes and come back home
6.
I hold the world in the palm of my hand With the moon on my shoulders each night that I stand Some men find it heavy I find myself at home But where am I destined Just where am I going? My body kept forth, unknowing, unknowing But I hold the world in the palm of my hand And the sun and the moon are the best of our friends Next to the ocean’s waves And as we are nearing the entrance of summer A new constellation is made And she told me the meaning of living In a language that I couldn’t speak For a beautiful painting’s worth more to a blind man Than it is to those who see Go away from these walls I’ll never turn around I’ll never turn around I’ll never
7.
Wake up, child To the world you wish to know In time, we will learn, and in time we all will grow Go forth and look back not There’s nothing there you can prevent Today we’ll carry on, nevermore will we lament My friends, I know, our ship will stay afloat Any way the wind blows, our ship will stay afloat

No I Know 03:13
I know it’s not hard to believe (x3) I know it’s not hard to see but have you never felt uneasy Have you never felt unsure of what it is that we’re all frightened of? Father will tell you that we’re all sinners only with hope to be Molded and mended, forced to pretend these are life’s beautiful things I know it’s not hard to believe (x3) I know it’s not hard to see but have you never felt the strength In standing on your own two feet, and I bet this is what we’re frightened of Father will tell you that we’re all sinners only with hope to be Molded and mended, forced to pretend these are life’s beautiful things But something tells me this goes against all things I’ve come to believe Doubt isn’t hatred love is not fear and I’m not an evil being But father still tells me I’m just a sinner and there’s no hope for me I’m spiraling downward I’m just a coward doing what I believe

Does a heavier weight rest upon your shoulders these days? Why do you run and hide when the world’s alive and beautiful? (it’s oh so beautiful) And I just want you to open up When there’s love knockin at the door Does the sun sting your eyes? Does the world seem to burn too bright? First steps feel so strange, but the winds of change blow strong (they blow strong for you) And I just want you to open up When there’s love knockin at the door And I just want you to open up When there’s love knockin at the door And I just want you to open up When there’s love knockin at the door And I just want you to open up When there’s love knockin at the door ...when there’s love knockin at the door ...when there’s love knockin at your door

I wait in the town square, crossed arms behind my back I look to either side of me (I’m safe) The working men are laughing and tip their hats as I pass Nervously, I nod then look away Then I go and I turn Did I hear something outside of my own mind? Then I go and I turn Did I hear something outside of my own mind? Hello, friend, it’s been some time Is it not quite strange to meet you here? My love, I have found you in this world we wish to understand The wars never end here, so rest your arms and take my hand We’re scared we will find it: the reason we exist at all In time and with patience, the truth will find (guide) us My love, I have found you in this world we wish to understand The wars never end here, so rest your arms and take my hand We’re scared we will find it: the reason we exist at all In time and with patience, the truth will find (guide) us ...where we all belong

Tell Me 03:30
Tell me television set: What sad fate has everybody met? Are we demons? Are we pure? Are we all diseased without a cure? Should I live a life of fear? Should I have no trust for those secure? Tell me where to place the blame Give me his address give me his name Tell me there’s still hope, Tell me there’s still room to grow Tell me where can we go from here? Tell me what can violence gain, Tell me why we play this backwards game Is there any chance for the kids that have to grow and pay for the things we did? Tell me there’s still hope, Tell me there’s still room to grow Tell me where can we go from here? Tell me what to learn, Tell me which books should I burn Tell me somebody knows what’s true Tell me which ones lie, which one’s pray and which ones pry? Tell me that we’re all not the same Tell me there’s still hope, Tell me there’s still room to grow Tell me where can we go from here?
12.
We’ve played but a game of fiction and in that there is no shame But our lives are such a gift that we ought not live them the same Are we dancers on a stage? Reading poems from a page? It becomes distorted (our point of view) when we’re fighting over the truth Give me your hands if we be friends and we shall restore amends As we roll the credits screen May I ask but one more thing? Do the characters we’ve played Distort our waking state? Let us roll the credits screen We’re reborn and we are free We’re reborn and we are free We’re reborn and we are free We’re reborn and we are free

about

To our fans:

It’s been a while since we were a band, and we have all moved forward in the intervening years. Ryan has a new band that you can hear at lvvmaking.bandcamp.com, Kenneth is writing fiction at www.kennethmichael.org, Carl (www.carlbiseni.us) is a designer for a big tech company, and Jay got his Master’s Degree and is now an urban planner in the public sector.

It was a wild ride for us those 4 years we made music together, and we have one more thing to share with you all before closing this chapter of our lives for good. Between 2012 and 2013, we wrote and recorded a third MDS album that was swallowed up and hidden away in the chaos following the entropy of the band in 2013. Now, we are proud to announce that The Actor & The Man is out now on Apple Music and Spotify. You can also download the album from our Bandcamp profile. It has been a long time coming and we are very excited to share these songs with you all.

The album will include both an A side and a B side. Side A will include songs from our first two releases (Astrum Mos Veho Vos Domum and The Vacant Seas) that we have judged to be worthy for re-release. Side B will include never released songs from The Actor & The Man recording sessions.

Thanks to everyone who has supported us over the years. It’s been real and we hope you enjoy this final musical release from Modern Day Satire.

Love,
The Band
